Cookies Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This Cookies Policy explains how GetFOSS uses cookies and similar technologies on getfoss.org, and how you can control them.
What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember preferences and to measure how a site is used. Cookies cannot run code and cannot identify you personally by themselves.
Cookies We Use
Analytics cookies — Google Analytics 4. We use Google Analytics to measure aggregate traffic: how many people read an article, which topics are popular and how the site performs. GA4 sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_<container-id> that store a random identifier. These cookies stay in your browser for up to 2 years by default. The data is aggregated, helps us improve content and is not used to advertise to you.
Essential technical storage. Docusaurus, the software this website is built with, may store small technical values in your browser (for example, your light or dark theme preference in local storage). These are not tracking technologies and are used only to make the site work as you expect.
Advertising cookies. We currently do not run ads and do not set advertising or retargeting cookies. If this ever changes, this policy will be updated first.
How to Control Cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings: every modern browser lets you block or remove cookies per site. You can also use private browsing, content blockers (for example uBlock Origin — fittingly, a free and open source tool), or opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Blocking analytics cookies will not break anything on this website.
Third-Party Policies
When you load a page, Google receives technical data as part of Analytics. Google's handling of that data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Changes to This Policy
If we add or remove cookies, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top.
